Military BowTie

Categories // Available for Purhcase, Our Bow Ties

What it means: Joining Forces was launched and spearheaded by first lady Michelle Obama and Vice President Joe Biden's wife Dr. Jill Biden to support military families. It's a national initiative that mobilizes all sectors of society to give our service members and their families the opportunities and support they have earned. The military has a special place in Dhani Jones' heart as both of his parents were in the Navy — his mother as an anesthesiologist and his dad as a Naval Commander. When Ken will wear it: Memorial Day weekend, May 28 at the Phillies-Mets MLB on FOX Saturday Baseball Game of the Week broadcast in primetime.Who he's wearing it for: US military active duty and veterans and their families.

Ferdinand's Ball is an annual fundraiser in honor of the 1986 Kentucky Derby winner and 1987 horse of the year, who was sent to slaughter in Japan. The red carpet gala raises awareness and funds so that legendary horses like Ferdinand can retire in peace and with dignity on a beautiful farm in Georgetown, Ky. The tie was designed using the colors of the silks worn by Ferdinand's jockey Bill Shoemaker.

Ronald McDonald House BowTie

The Ronald McDonald House provides a valuable service to families in need.

The first meeting regarding our involvement with the Ronald McDonald House occurred on a beautiful day on the porch of Dhani's Cincinnati home. Representatives from the Ronald McDonald House came and had a great conversation about their mission and the work they perform.

Each year, the Ronald McDonald House hosts the Red Tie Gala, which gave way to the color of the Bow Tie. The heart pattern came directly from their slogan: Home is where the heart is.

JDRF BowTie

JDRF was the first non-profit to partner with Bow Tie Cause and was a result of Dhani Jones' friendship with Fernando Aguirre, the president/CEO of Chiquita Brands International. The bow tie was designed by Fernando's son Fabrizio, who has juvenile diabetes. It symbolizes the ups and downs of juvenile diabetes and incorporates the official colors of JDRF.

Purple BowTie

The Purple Bow Tie is the official Bow Tie of Collaboration.  This Bow Tie is also the official Bow Tie of Texas Bow Tie Day, which was celebrated April 13, 2011 in Austin Texas.

The color purple is symbolic of collaboration because it is the combination of two drastically different mediums. Blue adds depth to objects, it is the coolest of all colors. Red reminds us of life and excitement, it is the warmest of all colors. Blue also makes us think of communication and peace. Red reminds us of blood, which is the essence of life.

When we take these two elements, mix them together, we yield Purple - a collaboration of two of the elements that make life worthwhile.

Additionally, red & blue are symbolic of our political system: two drastically different colors, which when combined, yield bipartisanship.

Leukemia & Lymphoma Society BowTie

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Bow Tie was personally designed by Dhani Jones & his lifelong friend, Kunta Littlejohn. It was Kunta's battle with cancer that lead to Dhani putting on a Bow Tie in the first place.

The meaning behind the design is very personal. When first diagnosed with cancer, Kunta thought that he was going to die, which is symbolized by the black base of the Bow Tie.

As time progressed however, Kunta began to improve, and grew largely optimistic about his survival. This is seen in the silver lining, which is symbolic of optimism.

The red blood droplet is actually the logo for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

The pattern that all of the elements take is representative of cell growth, which is something to be largely optimistic about for anyone with leukemia or lymphoma.

White BowTie

The White Bow Tie represents a blank canvas, which provides a platform to engage in conversation. As conversation continues, color is added to the canvas, and in essence supports a cause.

The White Bow Tie is the signature Bow Tie of Dhani Jones and the Bow Tie Cause.

But wait- it's blank, wheres the symbolic design? The White Bow Tie holds it's own symbolism, as it can effectively take the form of anything.

Whether you're designing Bow Ties, setting off on a lifelong goal, maybe even looking for a cure for cancer- we all start from a blank canvas.

Check out the clip from Dhani's TEDx talk on his canvas.
